Review: It’s wonderful to
have friends, especially if your name is Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny
Depp) and you are in the surreal clutches of Davey Jones’ Locker.
In this case, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira
Knightly) and Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) form a collation, commission
a ship and set sail to the world’s end in an attempt to free
Jack from his torment and tormentors.
The Far East holds even more intrigue, including the Oriental
pirate Captain Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat), a very slippery adversary.
Watch carefully as alliances are made and broken.
The effects are over-the-top, with battles, mystical adversaries
and sea-faring illusions. Director Gore Verbinski pulled off an
adventure that will not soon be forgotten. The running time is 160
minutes, and it will just seem to “sail by.”
