Review: You may not recognize
any of the stars of this film, and the spoken language may leave you
scratching your head, but the director is a household name, Mel Gibson.
Become a witness as the Mayan civilization declines, and the violence
of neighboring invaders defies description. This is the tale of a
young Mayan warrior who, after being separated from his family and
taken captive, must escape before being sacrificed to the invaders’
gods and begin his long, perilous journey home.
Stunning brutality and exquisite camera work make this an almost hypnotic
film. The harshness of the warring cultures is magnified by the graphic
scenes depicted. Too savage for the faint of heart, but, if you can
manage the gore; you will witness a very unusual cinematic experience.
History as you have never scene it before. (Subtitled)
