Review: Hollywood goes to New
York, and director Oliver Stone makes a fine movie based on the rescue
of two Port Authority policemen who were trapped while trying to save
victims of the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center.
The true story of John McLoughlin (Nicholas Cage) and Wil Jimeano
(Michael Pena) is captured with all of the drama it deserves. The
sequences are emotionally exhausting and the ultimate rescue of the
two family men exhilarating.
Director Stone puts aside the bitterness about the attack and
focuses on the goodness of mankind, as an entire city rallies to
save the victims and comfort those who lost loved ones.
