Review: Be prepared for a chilling
dramatization of the hijacking of United Flight 93 and the ultimate
crash of the plane that was earmarked by terrorists to take out the
White House. Pieced together from cockpit tapes, passenger phone calls,
air controllers, military personnel and speculation, this stirring
story is told in real time from the in flight take-over to the crash
itself. No stars, no Hollywood hype, just the known details are portrayed
in this tension packed 111 minute memorial to the men and women who
died trying to divert the flight from Washington, D.C. Good taste
reigns.
Controversial subject matter and ambivalent reactions from the
viewing public surround British director Paul Greengrass’
feature film. This is probably to be expected in that it is the
first 9/11 story to be dramatized. Oliver Stone is directing another,
“World Trade Center,” scheduled for release this August.
Universal Studios donated 10% of the first three days gross to
the Flight 93 Memorial Fund.
