Review: When overworked executive
Bob Munro (Robin Williams) loads his unenthused family into a rented
RV for a family vacation, one cannot help but look around for Chevy
Chase. For reasons to be revealed later in the paper-thin plot, a
long-awaited Hawaiian trip was replaced by this joke on wheels, aptly
christened “the big, rolling turd” by its inhabitants.
And that begins the tedious, review of excrement and raw sewage
routines that get old very rapidly as the crew rambles on to Colorado.
The RV jokes are old and worn, as is the premise of the film.
Director Barry Sonenfeld has assembled an adequate cast, but the
ultra-stereotypical characters are wooden and predictable. With
very little substance this “big, rolling turd” of a
movie will vanish into the Colorado sunset quickly. Good-bye theaters,
hello DVD players.
