Review: Aarrggg! Move over Spiderman and make room for the new box office, opening weekend, record holder, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). The Black Pearl still sails and its crew and captain are being hunted by the likes of Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) himself. Dead, yes, but not forgotten, the supernatural villain and his motley crew are out to get Captain Jack and his most prized possession.

Swept up in a deal involving eternal damnation Captain Sparrow knows that the key to his salvation is to find “The Dead Man’s Chest,” so he pits The Black Pearl against the Flying Dutchman in a race for his soul. Throw in a very angry sea monster, some unfriendly natives, the East India Trading Company’s best pirate hunter, a few young lovers (Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley) and you have one high adventure on the open seas.

All of this takes time, and this cinema extravaganza takes almost two and a half hours to unfold. Be advised that if you are prone to sea-sickness or have an aversion to plots that go too supernatural, you might get somewhat uncomfortable. If on the other hand, you are intrigued by the life of a pirate and crave more, the “sequel door” is left wide open at the end.

Have fun, me buckoos!
