Review: If it’s a hybrid
version of “It’s a Wonderful Life” crossed with"
Family Man" that you're looking for, look no further. Michael
Newman (Adam Sandler) is a busy architect. So busy that he never spends
any quality time with his family. Regrets are plenty, but reality
is scarce in this pseudo/drama peppered with a few sight gags centering
mainly around the family dog.
Shopping for a universal remote takes a spooky turn when Michael
stumbles into Morty’s (Christopher Walken) lab way in the
back of a Bed, Bath & Beyond (emphasis on the “Beyond”)
store. Pleased with his find, he returns home with his spiffy new
device and soon discovers that it is considerably more powerful
than he expected. The remote can actually control the pace of his
life. But should he use it to speed through arguments, misfortune
or mundane family dinners? Would you?
