| Review: Much like a mildly amusing
drunk, this movie grows annoying very quickly. Beginning with a weak
premise and fueled with a troupe (Broken Lizard) of unconvincing actors,
things go south rapidly. The throbbing question is what on earth is
an actress the caliber of Cloris Leachman doing in the mix?
As for the plot, when their grandfather dies, grandsons Todd and
Jan Wolfhouse are given the responsibility of scattering his ashes
in his country of origin, Germany. It just happens that the traditional
Oktoberfest is underway and the brew is flowing in the streets.
But wait, there’s another, underground, ceremony taking place
simultaneously, Beerfest. An international beer drinking competition
with great feats of imbibing is taking place on the sly.
Broken Lizard fans will brag of the delights of “Supertroopers”
and “Club Dread,” but the rest of us will cringe at
the memories. With very little other than collegiate drinking games
to entertain, this movie fiasco doesn't go down smoothly.
